Petition for a PCYC in Pimpama

A future Coalition Federal Government will provide up to $10 million in priority funding for a Police Citizens Youth Club (PCYC) in Pimpama to address the escalating issue of youth crime on the Northern Gold Coast through enhanced early intervention programs.

After listening to the local community, the Leader of the Opposition, Peter Dutton, and I strongly endorse establishing a PCYC in Pimpama.

Amidst a crisis of youth crime, local residents feel increasingly unsafe and frustrated at the lack of action.

Diversionary programs, such as those offered by a PCYC, will guide at-risk youth toward more positive life paths.

Leader of the Opposition Peter Dutton champions this initiative.

“As a former Queensland police officer, and the Minister for Home Affairs, I know all too well how important it is to ensure there are multiple programs and avenues to keep people safe – which is why it was so disappointing to see the Albanese Government rip $50 million from Round 7 of the Safer Communities Grants, which provided programs for at-risk youths.

“A Coalition Government I lead will restore that funding, and ensure a practical approach to tackling soaring rates of youth crime.”

Given the rapid expansion of Pimpama and Coomera, this PCYC will provide essential facilities, services, and programs for local youth and the broader community.

Working closely with the Gold Coast City Council, we have identified a suitable site at Pimpama Village North, strategically located near the community and existing infrastructure.

The Coalition has committed $10 million for construction if elected, complemented by a $5 million commitment from the State Government. However, with total estimated costs of $20 million, an additional $5 million is needed to fully fund the project.

With a strong stance on combatting youth crime, it is hoped that if elected in October, a Crisafulli-led Queensland LNP Government may have the additional means and motivation to contribute to this vital project for the Northern Gold Coast.
